The movie is an American production starring D’arcy Fellona and Tommy Beardmore. It is written, directed and produced by Josh Hope, produced by Mikki Raphael Rosenberg, Josh Hope, Tommy Beardmore & Chris Hong. Director of Photography – Seth Savoy. Composer – Tony Green. Editor – Chris Hong.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – Day 9

The feature film WILDLIKE, a USA 2015 production written, directed and produced by Frank Green, was the eight film to screen In-Competition at the Brasov International Film Festival on Friday, September 11.

From the beautiful and enchanting state of Alaska comes this very delicate film about the sexual abuse of children. The performances of the leading stars, Bruce Greenwood (I Robot, Star Trek, Flight), Ella Purnell (she played the young Angelina Jolie in Disney’s Maleficent) and Brian Geraghty (The Hurt Locker, Flight) are very sober and dramatic.

14-year-old Mackenzie (Ella Purnell), a troubled but daring teenage girl, is sent by her struggling mother to live with her uncle (Brian Geraghty) in Juneau, Alaska. She runs away and an unlikely friendship with a loner backpacker (Bruce Greenwood) forms in the spectacular Alaska wilderness, giving a runaway girl hope and sanctuary in America’s last frontier.

Director’s statement:

Frank Green“I have been very close to all facets of this story for some time. I delved into the landscape of Alaska and studied the trauma that girls and women endure from childhood sexual abuse.”

Producer and Festival Director Daria Trifu, film director and Festival’s Artistic Consultant Bruno Pischiutta and actress Denisa Barvon introduce the 8th film In-Competition from the USA, WILDLIKE.

Actress Andreea Dumitru was also present at the Festival and she was interviewed by actress Denisa Barvon following the screening of WILDLIKE. Here she mentions the upcoming feature film she will play in entitled THE BAD JOKE directed by Bruno Pischiutta.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – Day 8

The feature film DADDY, a USA 2015 production by Iranian director Mahmoud Shoolizadeh, was the seventh film to screen In-Competition at the Brasov International Film Festival on Thursday, September 10. The film was presented as a World Premiere.

DADDY is starring Ian Doherty and Alyssa Marchalletta.

When he (Ian Doherty) finds out that his girlfriend (Alyssa Marchalletta) is pregnant, a troubled teen changes his ways and tries passionately to prepare for fatherhood, but he has an extremely hard time to cope with the unexpected and shocking challenge he is facing.

This is a very well realized American feature film and it is exceptional because it has been produced with a zero dollars budget.

Producer and Festival Director Daria Trifu together with film director and Festival’s Artistic Consultant Bruno Pischiutta and actress Denisa Barvon introduce DADDY before its screening In-Competition at the Brasov Film Festival.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – Day 7

The sixth film In-Competition, from Spain, had its Romanian premiere at the Brasov International Film Festival on Wednesday evening, September 9. The film is ESCAPES (Spanish: HUIDAS) written, directed and produced by Mercedes Gaspar who was present for the screening. The movie is starring Huichi Chiu and Liberto Rabal.

Director Bruno Pischiutta and actress Denisa Barvon interview Spanish director Mercedes Gaspar on the stage of Brasov International Film Festival & Market before the screening of her movie.

Following the success of the film at the Festival, producer Daria Trifu has conducted an interview with Mercedes Gaspar.

In attendance, there was also Cicerone Busuioc, the PR Manager of the Iubim Brasovul Group, who discussed the movie with the director.

ESCAPES

After the death of her father, the leading character, a young girl named China (Huichi Chiu) goes on trip that will help her to find the human being’s essence. During this travel, she will discover that running away from her past and present is not the way to solve her problems.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – DAY 6

The fifth film In-Competition, from Iran, had its European premiere at the Brasov International Film Festival on Tuesday evening, September 8. The film was OBLIVION SEASON, directed and produced by Abbas Rafei and written by Ali Asghari. The movie is starring Sareh Bayat and Amin Zendeghani.

An ex-prostitute (Sareh Bayat) starts a new life by marrying her loved one (Amin Zendeghani) but leaving the shadow of her dark past is not as easy as it seemed before. Now she is the prisoner of her husband and in order to earn her freedom she should fight with the chauvinistic society of Iran.

Director’s view:

Abbas Rafei (2)“I tried to show a woman behind bars and fences all over today’s Tehran, who is trying to overcome all the intolerance and traditional and religious dogmatism in her society in order to live and stay alive. A society which doesn’t wish to let her forget the past.”

Once again, following the success of the film at the Festival, filmmakers and guests have gathered at the restaurant Die Stube – the second location of the event.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – DAY 5

The forth film In-Competition, an International Premiere from the USA, was screened on Monday evening, September 7. The film was OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN, directed by Liz Hinlein and produced by Diane Marshall-Green, Liz Hinlein, Adrienne Harris and Edward Button. The director of photography is Edward Button who is also present at the Festival. The movie is starring Diane Marshall-Green and Chad Michael Murray.

This feature film gives us a view of the young filmmakers’ scene in Los Angeles as well as the life and issues of homeless kids.

Reeling from the death of her famous father, filmmaker Samantha Trassler (Diane Marshall-Green) falls down the rabbit hole of PK (Chad Michael Murray), a charismatic homeless man who becomes the subject of her latest documentary. She is at loose ends until PK gives her renewed purpose. Their affair, however, threatens to tear apart the fabric of both of their lives.

The Festival is proud to have presented this beautiful film that has been written, directed and produced by women. This year, Brasov International Film Festival is dedicated to the women of the world and their problems and challenges.

Following the success of the film at the Festival, filmmakers and guests have gathered at the restaurant Die Stube – the second location of the event – where actress Denisa Barvon has interviewed Edward Button about his experience working on OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – Day 4

The third film In-Competition, from India, was screened on Sunday evening. The film was COME BACK JEETO, directed by Jaswant Mintu and produced by Dr. Jaswinder Singh Gandhi. It is starring Amanpreet Bal and Jaspal Jas.

The Festival is proud to have presented this movie that has been produced without the intention of making money. It was financed by the Amrit Foundation and it is a non profit movie, made for the purpose of bringing out educational values for society.
COME BACK JEETO is a beautiful and interesting representation of the Indian society and it is perfectly in tone with the theme of the Festival this year that is dedicated to women. The story clearly spells out how women – mothers, daughters, sisters and wives – are the immediate victims of men’s addictions to alcohol and drugs. The movie is dedicated to those innocent women.

COME BACK JEETO showcases the story of most of the youth of Punjab who were once known for their robust and vigorous health but now have fallen into the trap of the Drug Mafia.

Actor Andrei Neamtu the winner of the contest “The IMAGE of the Festival 2015” was interviewed by Daria Trifu following the screening.

Brasov Film Festival 2015 – Day 3

The second film In-Competition, from Spain, was screened yesterday evening with very much success. The film was NIGHTFALL IN INDIA, directed and produced by Chema Rodriguez and produced by Álvaro Alonso, Álvaro Suárez, Daniel Mitulescu and Juan Pablo Libossart. It is starring Juan Diego and Clara Voda.

In the audience there were also present actor Florin Opritescu from Barcelona, producer and cinematographer Edward Button from New York, who’s film OTHER PEOPLE’S CHILDREN is screening tomorrow on September 7, producer Elio Dell’Unto from Toronto and actor Andrei Neamtu from Brasov.
