In a recent article published by the Greek media, Daria Trifu said that she was “proud that this year our festival opens with Abyss In. This film shows us the dramatic conclusion of a love story that cannot overcome the mental illness and the progressive suffering that separation, isolation and divorce bring to a middle-age man. Yannis Aivazis starts his film directing career brilliantly, and his work rightfully demands our attention.”
When asked for his thoughts about the Greek film, Bruno Pischiutta had this to say, “many things struck me in this film. For a start, the timing and pace of the direction and acting are perfect; nothing is superfluous, nothing is redundant. Yannis makes some amazing directorial choices for a first-time director, and does not fall into any of the many traps in which even the best first-time directors often fall into. There is not a single wrong camera movement, and the ensemble Yannis has created is remarkable. The actors are all good and carefully chosen. Bravo to Stavros Parcharidis whose performance is outstanding, and to Christine Konstantinidou in the part of Anna! The sets designed and furnished by Maria Korinthiou fit perfectly with the story, which is constantly emphasized by Yorgos Vasiliadis’ cinematography that stops at the essentials. All the elements of the drama are offered to the viewer, but there is nothing more, there is only what needs to be there.”

September 6, 2022 – Hollywood, California – The Global Nonviolent Film Festival announces who are the members of the jury at its 11th annual edition. Distinguished filmmakers from five countries make-up this year’s ensemble. In alphabetical order, the jury is composed of Kostadin Bonev, Bulgaria, William Espero, USA, Annette Muller, Germany, Claudia Noble-Areff, South Africa, and Camilla Roman, Norway.
Kostadin Bonev is a acritically acclaimed film auteur whose film, Warming Up Yesterday’s Lunch, was Bulgaria’s official submission to the Academy Awards® in 2002. He is the recipient of some of the most prestigious international awards, and several Bulgarian Film Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Film. Bonev is a multi-award winner at past editions of the Global Nonviolent Film Festival. Several of his films are in distribution with GlobalCinema.online.
William Espero is a former American State Senator from Hawaii, chairman of the Senate Housing Committee and of the Public Safety, Intergovernmental and Military Affairs Committee. He is a Member of the Board of Directors of Global Film Studio. Espero is also the published author of the novel ‘Passion In Paradise’, the creator of the TV series Hawaii On ArtAcademy, and producer of the documentary Hi On Art, currently in distribution with GlobalCinema.online.
Annette Müller is a co-producer of the documentary The Cure, directed by Emmanuel Itier, and featuring Sharon Stone and Mark Wahlberg. She is the author and director of the documentary Hu Man – Healing Journey To Being Human, in distribution with GlobalCinema.online, for which she was voted Best Woman Director at the Lake City Film Festival. Muller is the founder of the hospital for energy healing Villa San Esprit and the École San Esprit – International School Of Healing Arts in Germany and Italy.
Claudia Noble-Areff is a multi-faceted filmmaker and Attorney at Law. She is a legal pioneer credited with facilitating housing to over 150,000 families in South Africa. Noble-Areff is the owner of the film studio Noble Pictures, and producer of a number of films that are in distribution with GlobalCinema.online, including two episodes of an animated series of stories adapted from the book ‘Nelson Mandela’s Favorite African Folktales’.
Camilla Roman is the writer and director of the award-winning film Waves (Best Director and Best Actress at the 10th Global Nonviolent Film Festival). She is an actress most known for her recurring role in the popular Norwegian series Coda KORK. Roman is an Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (London) and New York Film Academy (Universal Studios, Los Angeles) alumna. Her films are in distribution with GlobalCinema.online.

The poster was designed and created by film producer and festival director Daria Trifu. “I created this poster as a personal tribute to the people who inspire me and who are the reason I became a filmmaker”, says Daria Trifu. She continues, “a few days ago, I wanted to remind myself of the beauty, elegance and overall style of ‘old Hollywood’, the time when the influence of stars on the world and on ‘ordinary people’ was so powerful and all so inspiring. When did it start and why?
The 11-day event came on the market in 2012 and it started in a resort city in Romania. In 2016 its founders, film director Bruno Pischiutta and film producer Daria Trifu, took the event on-line giving access to the world’s viewers to watch the high quality non-violent films it showcases.
What type of films are shown at the Global Nonviolent Film Festival?
The public demand for non-violent film as a genre has never been more strong. The films shown at the Global Nonviolent Film Festival are mostly independently made, and they do not contain any acts of gratuitous violence.
There are more and more people in the world who are simply tired of seeing imagined shootings, killings, and torture on the ‘big screen’. They instead look for more than just simple entertainment: they look to discover new talent, new places, different cultures, and to broaden their horizons.
What sets this Festival apart?
What sets this Festival apart are the films it shows, and the fact that they all receive a distribution contract proposal from Globalcinema.online.
There are over 15,000 film festivals in the world today. It certainly isn’t easy to stand-out, but the Global Nonviolent Film Festival did just that: it stood-out of the crowd by identifying and sticking to a niche market of non-violent films, more exactly films that do not contain gratuitous violence. The Festival accepts films and music videos in almost evert genre as long as they do not showcase extreme/graphic violence such as gratuitous killings and shootings, brutal fight scenes, slash and horror.
When it started, it wasn’t easy denying access to films, especially when they were very high quality and sometimes even Studio pictures, if they contained gratuitous acts of violence. Saying ‘no’ to temptation and allowing the event to grow naturally, took time, but it was the right thing to do.
How did COVID impact the event in 2020?
This terrible pandemic had an unexpected positive effect on the Festival. In a year when every other film festival in the world had to cancel or postpone their editions, the Global Nonviolent Film Festival saw a major rise in both film submissions and viewers. This happened because it was already a well established and smoothly running online event, and it required no change in its structure or setting. The organizers had simply to adapt to the three-times higher than usual amount of films and daily presentations, but there were no hiccups and everything ran surprisingly well.
In 2020, the Festival screened 66 films from 30 countries. Of those, there were 11 world premieres. It was a record number.

What happens during the 11-day event?
The schedule of the 11-day event goes as follows:
On the opening day, all the films selected go live on the Festival’s online channel. This way, the public can watch any of them at the time of their choosing.
Every day of the Festival, a new video presentation goes live on the channel. That’s the event’s Daily Presentation where the organizers discuss and highlight one or more of the presented films accompanied by trailer(s). This way, the public has the chance to learn more about the films and their filmmakers.
On Monday, following the closing day of the event, the Awards Presentation goes live on the channel. This gives the filmmakers and the public the chance to celebrate the winners.
All films remain available for viewing on the channel for an additional week following the end of the event. This gives everyone the chance to watch them and, eventually, focus on the awarded ones.
The trailers of the films and the Daily Presentations remain available on the channel for one full year, until next year’s edition. This gives additional promotion to the films.
How much does it cost to watch the films?
The trailers are free to watch and so are the Daily Presentations with commentary about the participating films.
The rest of the channel works on a pay-per-view basis where one can choose and pay for the film they wish to watch individually. Prices go from $1.99 to $13.99.
There are weekly VIP passes available for the event too. They give the possibility to the people to watch any number of films they choose for a period of seven days from the date of purchase. The price for the VIP passes is determined just before the Festival starts, and after the line-up is announced.

The Festival was founded by film director Bruno Pischiutta and producer Daria Trifu in 2012 to showcase nonviolent motion pictures, and to show that those movies are not only capable of great international success but they are in high demand by the public.
