Animation films are now accepted at Brasov International Film Festival & Market

Brasov, Romania — March 29, 2016 — For the first time this year, Brasov International Film Festival & Market accepts animation films. All movies must be nonviolent.

In its 5th edition, the Festival is being held September 1 – 11 in the beautiful resort city of Brasov, Transylvania. BRIFF is the most important and renowned nonviolent film festival in the world.

The submission deadline is:

July 29, 2016

The winners receive an Award Certificate and an original handmade Trophy (valued at $600) that is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.

For the second year in a row, in partnership with the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund, the Festival is also handing out the ‘MMBF Rising Star Award’ to an emerging filmmaker. The Award consists of a $250 cash prize and other perks offered by the Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund of London, UK.

Brasov International Film Festival was founded by film director Bruno Pischiutta and producer Daria Trifu in 2012 to showcase nonviolent, main stream motion pictures and to show that those movies are not only capable of great international success but they are also in high demand by the public.

Over the years, some of the filmmakers awarded here include: Nicole Kidman, Woody Allen, Richard Gere, Keira Knightley, Robert Redford, Sarah Jessica Parker, Woody Harrelson and Cameron Diaz among many others.

Some of the films that have been awarded at Brasov International Film Festival gained access to theatrical releases and have competed for Academy Award®’s nomination consideration.

Film Awarded at Brasov International Film Festival is on the Short List for an Oscar®

Brasov Film Festival is open for submissions.

Brasov, Romania — January 8, 2016 — The organizers of the Brasov International Film Festival & Market congratulate the producers of the feature film “Let’s Dance to the Rhythm” (‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’) for having made it to the list of productions eligible in the ‘Best Foreign Film’ and ‘Best Background Score’ categories at the 88th Academy Awards (Oscars®).

The film was an official selection at the Brasov Film Festival in 2015, the most important and renowned nonviolent film festival in the world, where it received the ‘Best Film Out Of Competition Award’ handed to Miguel Barretto.

Another film that met with great international success following its screening and ‘Best Film Award’ at the Brasov Film Festival is “Oblivion Season”, the Iranian movie directed and produced by Abbas Rafei and starring Sareh Bayat. “Oblivion Season” portrays a moment in the life of an ex-prostitute who, after changing her life, becomes prisoner of her husband and, in order to earn her freedom, she should fight with the chauvinistic society of Iran. The film was an official selection at the Brasov Film Festival where it had its European premiere.

Other films that were awarded at the Brasov Film Festival and that went on to receive distribution, get released and/or win other international festivals are “Other People’s Children” directed by Liz Hinlein and starring Chad Michael Murray and Diane Marshall-Green, “Come Back Jeeto” directed by Jaswant Mintu and “Wildlike” directed by Frank Hall Green and starring Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty and Ella Purnell.

Brasov International Film Festival & Market is Open for Submissions and Announces 2016 Dates

The Brasov International Film Festival & Market has opened submissions for the 5th annual edition of the Festival, to be held September 1 – 11, 2016.

Brasov International Film Festival is the most important and renowned nonviolent film festival in the world. The Festival takes place in the beautiful resort city of Brasov located in the heart of Romania.

The Festival welcomes submissions of live action feature films, feature documentaries, short documentaries and live action short films. All films submitted must be nonviolent. A total of ten feature films will be selected, screened and awarded at the Festival.

All submitted short films and documentaries (that adhere to the Festival’s guidelines) will receive the Official Selection Certificate however, only one feature documentary, one short film and one short documentary will be screened during the Festival and those three will be the selected ones to receive Awards.

The submission deadline is: July 29, 2016

Brasov, Romania — October 6, 2014 — The feature film THE GLOW OF THE FIREFLY that had it’s World Premiere and won the ‘Best Director’ award for Khalid Mahmood Mithu at the Brasov International Film Festival & Market this year has been selected as Bangladesh’s entry in the Foreign Language Film category at the 87th Academy Awards. The film was chosen by the members of the Oscars Selection Committee in Bangladesh following its success at the Festival in Brasov.

Brasov International Film Festival & Market – Day Three

Brasov, Romania — September 6, 2014 – For immediate release – The 3rd edition of Brasov International Film Festival & Market (www.brasovfilmfestival.com), the most important and renowned nonviolent Film Festival in the world, continued today with the screening of the second film in competition, THE GREAT BEAUTY, with Romanian subtitles, starring Toni Servillo with Carlo Verdone and Sabrina Ferilli. It is directed by Paolo Sorrentino. The screening ended with many applause from a very enthusiastic audience who have appreciated this movie that has won the Oscar for “Best Foreign Language Film” in 2014.

The Festival this evening was presented by the Film Director Bruno Pischiutta and Actress Ana-Maria Cioflec. Actress Loredana Faith was introduced on the stage along with Claudia Karma who is a student of this year’s International Film Workshops.
Tomorrow night, the audience will watch the third film in competition with Romanian subtitles, ANNA KARENINA, starring Keira Knightley, Jude Law and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The film is directed by Joe Wright.

The Festival takes place this year from September 4th to the 14th at the ‘Reduta’ Cultural Center located in the heart of the city of Brasov, Romania.

Brasov International Film Festival & Market – Day One

Brasov, Romania — September 4, 2014 – For immediate release – The 3rd edition of Brasov International Film Festival & Market (www.brasovfilmfestival.com), the most important and renowned nonviolent Film Festival in the world, has opened today with the screening of PUNCTURED HOPE (with Romanian language subtitles), directed by Bruno Pischiutta and produced by Daria Trifu, and nominated in Hollywood by the Political Film Society in Hollywood as Best Film Expose and Best Film On Human Rights of the year alongside AVATAR, INVICTUS, INGLORIOUS BASTERDS and THE HURT LOCKER. The film features the sad phenomenon of modern day slavery and female genital mutilation in West Africa.

Each year the Festival is dedicated to a cause. This year the theme of the Festival is Africa, a continent full of problems and promises.

The evening has been broadcasted live by TVS-Brasov, the most watched television channel in the County of Brașov, headed by journalist Ovidiu Gradinar and partner with the Festival. Journalist Denisa Dumitru started the presentation addressing the TV viewers.

The public has attended in high numbers and they were enthusiastic about this great event taking place in Brasov. The Festival was opened tonight by Director of the Festival Daria Trifu and presented by the Film Director Bruno Pischiutta and Actress Denisa Barvon.

The three Faces of the Festival were introduced to the audience. Angie Antal, the next star emerging from Brasov and who was interviewed live by TVS. The other two young and talented actresses are Paula Blank and Andreea Dumitru.

Tomorrow night the public will watch the first film in competition ENDLESS LOVE starring Gabriella Wilde, Alex Pettyfer and Bruce Greenwood, and directed by Shana Feste. The film presents the story of a privileged girl and a charismatic boy whose instant desire sparks a love affair made only more reckless by parents trying to keep them apart.

The Festival takes place this year from September 4th to the 14th at the Reduta Cultural Center located in the heart of the city of Brasov, Romania.

The 2014 edition of the Festival is partner with Oktoberfest, organized by Cristian Macedonschi, which takes place during the same period in Brasov (where 250,000 people are expected to participate). Today Daria Trifu, Denisa Barvon and Angie Antal have invited the people to the Festival from the stage of Oktoberfest.
