Brasov Int’l Film Festival, the most important and renowned nonviolent film festival in the world, has announced tonight the complete list of awards handed at this year’s edition of the festival.

 

 

Jury Awards to Films in Competition:

  • Best Film: “The Sinking of Sozopol” (Bulgaria) by Kostadin Bonev

  • Best Director: Mahmoud Kamel for “Out of Order” (UAE, Egypt)

  • Best Actor: Richard De Klerk in “Beijing New York” (USA, China, Canada)

  • Best Feature Documentary: “The Legacy of Menla” (Hungary) by Adam Miklos, and “A Sauropod Abroad” (Canada) by Anna Cooley

  • Best Animation Film: “Voyage” (Romania) by Marian Poiana

  • Best Short Film: “Fill In the Blanks” (France) by Chloé Marçais, and “Twin Stars” (Turkey) by Mehmet Tığlı

Special Awards from the Organizers:

  • The “Honorary Award” has been handed to American businessman and political personality, Mr. Robert F. Sylk.

  • The “Lifetime Achievement Award” has been handed to 91 years old Croatian actor and musician, Mr. Bruno Petrali.

The Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund Award:

  • The “MMBF Rising Star Award” has been handed to 17 years old emerging Romanian actor Andrei Neamtu

All the 21 nonviolent feature films, documentaries and shorts that have competed for awards remain available for viewing on the Festival’s Vimeo On Demand Channel until 5:00 PM (EST) on Wednesday, September 14.

The Festival was founded by film director Bruno Pischiutta and producer Daria Trifu in 2012 to showcase nonviolent, main stream motion pictures and to show that those movies are not only capable of great international success, but they are also in high demand by the public.

Brasov Int’l Film Festival Announces the 2016 Winner of the “MMBF Rising Star Award”

September 9, 2016 — The organizers of the Brasov International Film Festival & Market have announced this year’s winner of the MMBF Rising Star Award.

The recipient of the award is seventeen years old emerging Romanian actor Andrei Neamtu who is a graduate of Bruno Pischiutta’s International Film Workshops and who has been cast to play an important role in Global Film Studio’s upcoming feature film entitled THE BAD JOKE. Last year, Neamtu was the “Image of the Festival” and he was featured on the official poster. He is exclusively represented by Brasov Talent Agency.

For the second time this year Brasov Int’l Film Festival has partnered with the MMBF (Matthew Martino Benevolent Fund). MMBF is a London, UK based international charity that supports filmmakers, actors and individuals studying or working in performing arts worldwide through training grants, scholarships and funding for first time filmmakers. Winners of the award get an award plaque, prize money (USD 250), opportunities to work on film sets as well as tickets to film festivals and film related events.

In 2015, the winner of the MMBF Award at Brasov Int’l Film Festival was actress Denisa Barvon.

After four years of successful annual editions, Brasov Int’l Film Festival, the most important and renown nonviolent film festival in the world has moved on-line exclusively. This year, the Festival showcases 21 nonviolent selected feature films, documentaries and shorts on its Vimeo On Demand Channel, between September 1 – 11: “Film Director Bruno Pischiutta and Producer Daria Trifu make film and internet history with their on-line Film Festival”

Film Awarded at Brasov International Film Festival is on the Short List for an Oscar®

Brasov Film Festival is open for submissions.

Brasov, Romania — January 8, 2016 — The organizers of the Brasov International Film Festival & Market congratulate the producers of the feature film “Let’s Dance to the Rhythm” (‘Nachom-ia Kumpasar’) for having made it to the list of productions eligible in the ‘Best Foreign Film’ and ‘Best Background Score’ categories at the 88th Academy Awards (Oscars®).

The film was an official selection at the Brasov Film Festival in 2015, the most important and renowned nonviolent film festival in the world, where it received the ‘Best Film Out Of Competition Award’ handed to Miguel Barretto.

Another film that met with great international success following its screening and ‘Best Film Award’ at the Brasov Film Festival is “Oblivion Season”, the Iranian movie directed and produced by Abbas Rafei and starring Sareh Bayat. “Oblivion Season” portrays a moment in the life of an ex-prostitute who, after changing her life, becomes prisoner of her husband and, in order to earn her freedom, she should fight with the chauvinistic society of Iran. The film was an official selection at the Brasov Film Festival where it had its European premiere.

Other films that were awarded at the Brasov Film Festival and that went on to receive distribution, get released and/or win other international festivals are “Other People’s Children” directed by Liz Hinlein and starring Chad Michael Murray and Diane Marshall-Green, “Come Back Jeeto” directed by Jaswant Mintu and “Wildlike” directed by Frank Hall Green and starring Bruce Greenwood, Brian Geraghty and Ella Purnell.

Brasov International Film Festival & Market is Open for Submissions and Announces 2016 Dates

The Brasov International Film Festival & Market has opened submissions for the 5th annual edition of the Festival, to be held September 1 – 11, 2016.

Brasov International Film Festival is the most important and renowned nonviolent film festival in the world. The Festival takes place in the beautiful resort city of Brasov located in the heart of Romania.

The Festival welcomes submissions of live action feature films, feature documentaries, short documentaries and live action short films. All films submitted must be nonviolent. A total of ten feature films will be selected, screened and awarded at the Festival.

All submitted short films and documentaries (that adhere to the Festival’s guidelines) will receive the Official Selection Certificate however, only one feature documentary, one short film and one short documentary will be screened during the Festival and those three will be the selected ones to receive Awards.

The submission deadline is: July 29, 2016
