AWARDS 2021: Global Nonviolent Film Festival

October 4, 2021 — Hollywood, California — Global Nonviolent Film Festival, the most important and renown nonviolent film festival in the world, announced the Awards handed at its 10th edition.

The announcement was made by festival director Daria Trifu and festival artistic consultant Bruno Pischiutta in a video presentation that is available for viewing on the Festival’s streaming channel at:

Forty-four films from twenty-eight countries have competed at this year’s event. There were eleven premieres.

The Jury comprises (in alphabetical order): film maestro Shamil Aliyev from Azerbaijan; artist, animation director and university professor Joe Chang from Canada-China; producer Elio Dell’Unto from Canada; cinematographer and documentary producer Flynn Donovan from the USA, and member of the International Federation of Film Critics Hamed Soleimanzadeh from Iran.

The Jury resolved to award the following films:

SHELLFISH, James Hopewell (USA).

Best Director (ex aequo):

Hunter Hopewell for SHELLFISH (USA); 

Kostadin Bonev for AWAY FROM SHORE (Bulgaria, Ukraine); 

Sohrab Khandelwal for QUE SERA SERA (India); 

Zsolt Pozsgai for DARKING WAY (Hungary).

Best Cinematography (ex aequo):

Konstantin Zankov & Orlin Ruevski for AWAY FROM SHORE (Bulgaria, Ukraine);

Claudia Kovaks for DARKING WAY (Hungary); 

Gudmundur Bjartmarsson & Johannes Jonsson for RISING MOON (Iceland); 

Daniel Pascal for REPENTANCE (France).

Best Screenplay (ex aequo):

Kazem Mollaie for THE BADGET (Iran); 

Zsolt Pozsgai for DARKING WAY (Hungary).

Best Actor:

Penko Gospodinov in AWAY FROM SHORE (Bulgaria, Ukraine).

Best Actress:

Pap Katalin as Charlotte in DARKING WAY (Hungary).

Gnassounou Koffi Chico for REPENTANCE (France);
